It’s a Met Gala Kind of Day.

_Moda-Operandi-Punk-Shop

Not too sweet, nor too glamorous.  Rough around the edges with boots and a Mohawk to a gala, now that is my kind of party!

Tonight the Metropolitan Museum of Art will host it’s annual Costume Institute Benefit, better know as the Met Gala, with this year’s theme being Punk: Chaos to Couture. Continue reading “It’s a Met Gala Kind of Day.” »

“Hide Me” Sweat Said “Hide Me.”

romeostyle tipster 042113

When you’re a slave to fashion, if there is a will you’ll find a way. Just so happens I’ve found several in order to keep my nickname Ms. Cheeky and avoid being called Ms. Sweaty Checks. I’m a sweater, through the pores that is. It’s a sweating problem that I’ve suffered from most of my life, which makes me an expert on this topic.  Through trial and damp error, I’ve figured out which garments to wear during certain seasons of the year, from the fabrics that are sweat friendly to undergarments which prevents those embarrassing moments from happening.  Continue reading ““Hide Me” Sweat Said “Hide Me.”” »

Style Clinic takes on another fashion dilemma for a man in need of some help buying his first tuxedo for his very own black tie wedding in the late summer.  Mr.Porter‘s in-house experts gives three options to this sartorial patient which might be more than what the doctor ordered, but better to have choices than none at all when it’s your wedding.

Chillin on my Tumblr Corner. You joining?

My obsession with fashion, as I know it, started with glossy pages, and if I had my way I would be sleeping on the magazine collection I once owned. No joke. Before there were e-magazines, online editorial destination or digital versions of our monthly fashion obsessions I had subscriptions to Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, W magazine, Vogue, UK Vogue, UK Elle for almost ten years. A little over 800 hundred magazines, could of made a good base for bed, but having my magazines be 800 hundred reasons for some sleepless nights I just couldn’t do. The printed blazer and jacket trend women have been wearing just isn’t going anywhere, and the trend is being shared by the gentlemen walking besides us.  It’s the modern way to update the spring wardrobe of those men who are comfortable enough with their own sense of style to know that printed outerwear isn’t just for the ladies.   Continue reading “Monday Men Style: Printed on the back” »

Monday Men Style: Style Clinic In Session

mr porter style clinic

Since Charlie’s Angels have retired, poor Charlie has M.I.A, but I think he’s resurfaced in a place I’d least expect him to; helping those men in fashion need at the Style Clinic on Mr.Porter.com.   Actually the voices belongs to Michael Griffiths, a voice actor who makes this new web series filmed by Ikenna Mokwe sound so smooth and sexy you just want to partake in some of the drinking sessions you see on Mad Men while watching.  Continue reading “Monday Men Style: Style Clinic In Session” »

Fashion’s Shoulder Slingers

Fashion Shoulder Slingers

The first time I saw this new look during New York Fashion Week almost two years ago, I loved it but, I said to myself that those ladies obviously don’t live among us daily street-walkers in the city.  To wear an open coat, or jacket over your shoulders without securing it while doing everyday activities on the go are impossible.  Let me list some possible scenarios.

Michael Bastian Fall 2013: Inspiration and Stimulation.

Ph: GQ.com

Last week, a friend shared a video link to Michael Bastian’s Fall 2013 show accompanied with the comment, “This is what I watch when I SHOULD be writing..ENJOY (:”  I began to watch the video on my phone, but after the first five guys stroked me walked out onto the runway I stopped watching.  I waited until I made it home that night, got comfortable and watch the entire show without distractions.

Monday Men Style: Canadian Tuxedo

Denim!  It’s the woven fabric that can be worn all year long.  We wear it when we need to dress down an outfit just a bit. We wear it when we’re too lazy to wear anything else or just because it’s welcomed in more places than a MasterCard.  For the never-ending love of denim I have, my post this week is dedicated to the men who wear the fabric ohh so well in it’s different colors, washes and styles; making the male denim-clad species easily accepted worldwide. Look down, then up, and down again.  Watching fashion shows during the Fall/Winter ’13 presentations was like viewing a vertical tennis game every time the models walked the runways. Continue reading “An Arm and A Leg In Fashion Terms” »
