Look down, then up, and down again. Watching fashion shows during the Fall/Winter ’13 presentations was like viewing a vertical tennis game every time the models walked the runways. Continue reading “An Arm and A Leg In Fashion Terms” »
Most of us have stood on an island at some point in our lives. A Caribbean island, Staten Island, the island of Manhattan and my new favorite, island platforms. Having good balance and wanting to tower over everyone else around you are reasons enough to own some island platforms heels. These type of islands come in pairs and cost much less than what some celebs paid for their piece of private land to walk on.
Like the gals, the fellas have their trends for each season, and trying to be focused on noticing the fashion trends is hard work for me, when you guys wear the clothes so bloody well! It’s like a hot dish at a restaurant that gets all the guests worked up, and coming back for more! We all want to know what the main ingredients are involving when making the hot dish of the season. Hate to compare you guys as a meal, but chops are being licked after a walk-on-by moment.
So the ultimate look of the season is the hot dish and the ingredients are the trends.
Let me worship your soles, your pretty, feminine, dainty and simple shoes. Don’t think those adjectives would be used to describe the S/S ’13 shoes we saw on the catwalks during New York Fashion Week. The designs were extreme, chunky, architectural, and colorful. Some soleful creations, are sure to be painful after walking 4 long blocks in New York City, but we shoe pros are well aware there is a little pain for some fashionable gain.
Embellishment love from Rachel Roy, Christian Siriano and Rachel Roy
Pointed in that direction from Sophie Theallet, DKNY, Chado Ralph Rucci.
Gladiators I salute you. Band Of Outsiders, Victoria Beckham
Strappy ankle wraps of soleful love Donna Karan and Prabal Gurung.
Today in New York the temperature will reach close to 100 degrees and humidity will have some of us cussing under our breathes, yet I’m sharing photos I took of Reiss’s F/W 2012 collection which I got a chance to preview.
I love staying ahead in fashion. It’s something to look forward when we are going through hot days like this one. We know in the coming months, that leather shorts will replace the denim ones some of us have been wearing like they’re uniforms.
Bad hair days due to humidity will no longer have us hiding under the straw brim hats that took some of us forever to find. Instead the fall/winter hats will have us willing skip a hair appointment or two.
Plus the layered outfits will be welcomed back into our lives like the layered slices of cake that will have us covering our stomachs in the first place.
So ladies start looking ahead, it does get shinier at the end of the seasonal tunnel.
It’s been awhile since I’ve shared some stealing or dealing items. So to try and make up for lost time, I’m hitting you guys with the white stuff.
Lately the all-white looks here, plus styling projects focusing on the F/W ’12 season had me looking at tons of garments and accessories with price ranges that can work for those who like paying beer man prices or others who think the finer things in life are worth paying extra for.
Go ahead and fill those champagne flutes up with whatever makes you happy, beer or champagne cause no one will know what it is just by looking the bubbles, the same goes for these must-have items.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything for the to cool for school crew. You know how we women can get, it’s all about the girl power and that can take up some time. So apologies for not being here. But I’m back just in time to let the fellas know, you’ll are damned. Usually this would be bad news having some reach for their Bibles. Dark days are ahead for you guys and you have Jeffrey Campbell to thank for it.
If you’re just about to board onto the color-blocking train or have been working your way to those train steps, it would be best if you throw yourself off now or let this one go by. Cause this trend, has gone into overkill territory like the florals all day everyday trend.
I of all people shouldn’t be saying such things, after all blocking those colors up down and all around has been a styling favorite of mine for years now. Years I say, so I know when it’s time to let go of something for awhile, just to make space for something new, the technicolor way of dressing. Resort 2013 collections have my attention today. These pieces are available for pre-ordering on Moda Operandi just for a couple of days. If you miss it, no worries, there is a change you may able to purchase them in a couple months, but there is a #StyleTip to accompany these goodies.
You know the feeling after you’ve seen an entire collection from a particular designer or design house, you find yourself getting a bit emotional over a couple of pieces that caught your eye, and then it becomes embedded into your mind like a virus that’s only cure is you owning those must-have fashion loves of your life.
The first official day of summer is June 20th 2012 and the past few days in New York City with temperatures over 80 degrees there will be no transition time just…. just nothing. I’m decided to start my Will Smith’s “Summertime” dance remix now. I’m doing it with small doses of pastels and neons, avoiding head-to-toe floral prints like it was the plague, overloading on the bangles so they feel like weights, rocking short like the boys, maxi skirts dragging like I’m walking the red carpet, and spikes to keep the bad ones three feet away. Those are just a few of my favorite things. Cue the music!
