This is my last week of spring classes at FIT, blow the trumpets! I’m not excited just because the semester is coming to an end, but it’s also the amount of time I’ll have to share my stories, projects, tons of fashion advice! But, right now things are looking brighter, shorter and chicer as we enjoy our spring days. Continue reading “Style Tips: A Short Shift of Color.” »
This accessory is one for those who would rather adorned their heads while everyone is puts their jewels on the neck. I’ve been suggesting jeweled headbands as an alternative to necklaces for those who may be attending black-tie weddings or prom.
I’ve share some stylish looks for prom (here and here) that can either have some young ladies raising their eyebrows in a questionable way or raising it plotting how they’ll one up on their fashion rivals at the prom with the sequenced romper and sheer skirt!

Just before the end of the New York Fashion week last month, I visited Parlor Showroom, a hidden gem located in Soho. Taylor Anne Thomas, the owner and curator, was kind enough to let my friend, videographer Sino Chum, and me see the collections of emerging designers in her Parlor! So what is a girl to do when mother nature sent us her own dress code memo in the form of a snow storm? When showing arms and legs is not even an option unless you’re willing to freeze your barely-there behinds off or wear towering, strappy heels at your own risk. Unless you don’t mind photographers featuring you in their timberrrr page category.
Fashion’s elite know’s how to keep the focusing on those things that matter like outerwear, accessories and handbags, when the garments closest to the bodies can’t be used for fashion week’s show and tell.
Handbags are held in hands not swung on shoulders.
Hats have stolen the street-style show
A jacket and coat together is what the doctor ordered
Color will always be your friend, from the hot summer summer nights and cold winter days.

When I’m away, my Instagramming fingers will play. Since I’ve been working on other projects, trying to hustle, mobile blogging has been my way of life for the past few weeks. So when I’m M.I.A on RomeoStyle.com, the photos below shows what MsRStyle has been up to.
What’s beyond the dirty white line? 2013 in NYC, of course.
I’ve been busy surrounding myself with shoe-link gangs from Kathryn Amberleigh Continue reading “An Instagramful Day” »

Friend: Why did you stop your illustrations?
Moi: I don’t know.. I got distracted with work?
Friend: You no longer work there so why not start again?
Moi: Don’t know why…my heart isn’t in it right now.
After my response, I took a painful gulp, and faked a smile. I did get distracted with the job I held at the time. I lost focus on what I loved doing, creating art and designing, instead I was working on daily reports or inventory, sitting in meetings, buying, displaying, complaining, some more ings occupied my life, putting my illustrations into an untouched file on my external drive. Some of them waiting to be finished others, completed but never published.
It takes one person who I least expected, to bring it all to the surface. An old fan and buyer of my illustrations reaching out to me like a long lost lover. I never meet the person face to face, but his email was so touching, it made me take another gulp, this time it was a gulp filled with guilt. Guilt for not doing something with my God given talent. Guilt for browsing through countless magazines, looking at images which could of been perfect starting points for my illustrations, and not doing anything thing with pages. Not scanning them for future reference. Not altering them to my liking. Not creating my own visual stories from those that Elle, Harpers Bazaar and Vogue try to tell us within their glossies.
So this weekend, I’m taking a leap of faith on working on an e-store to sell some my illustrations. I’m also going to work on some new pieces by browsing, scanning, cutting, some more ings and I will have a new piece completed before the end of the weekend.
To create the type of illustrations I did, over a year ago, will not happen overnight, but I have to start somewhere and the process begins with applying the first layer to an image.
I’m ending this year like the end of a relationship without the face-to-face goodbye and best wishes from that lover we want. Instead, some of us may write a goodbye letter you may or may not send to that ex-lover.smrstrnl.tumblr
It’s almost 1am December 31st 2012. The last day of the year. Others will be ending the year and welcoming 2013 over clinging glasses and kisses, while decked out in their late night finest. Me, I’m going to write the year away and typing in to another 365 days.
2012 you have been one of the cruelest, most unforgiving, tear jerking, vulnerable, remarkable, thought-provoking years in my life thus far. To say you’ve been life changing is a bit of an understatement. There have been times you’ve left me on the floor sobbing, and other times smiling, laughing and leaping for joy my checks and back hurt may hurt. Nothing some yoga stretches and face cream couldn’t take off.
I looked at everyone, every experience, everything as lessons and 2012, you’ve taught me a few that I’ve already written down for fear of forgetting them.
For the first time, I’m leaving one year scared of what another year has in store for me.
I’m quite sure there will be some good, some bad and some ugly in 2013. Each one is needed to appreciate the other, but I pray for a fistful of bad against a slap filled with ugly only for a barrel full of good to be poured over the other two.Lou-boutin.tumblr.com
I’m saying my goodbye to 2012 before most people in this region of the world will. Why, because holding onto to you, 2012, any longer is like holding on to a pair of heels that look great on my feet, but hurt like hell with every step. Get them off, and give me my wedge sneakers so I’ll be able to handle the year ahead of me.
Side Note: This goodbye letter was obviously sent and received by 2012, but I have yet to get a response. Maybe 2013 will give me one.
Facebook now has an option for us to share the 20 biggest moments from 2012 to share with our, family, friends and followers. Now why would I let Facebook decide which of my stories and photos were the best of my 2012 when I’m more than capable of doing that with my own special commentary included!
Don’t you often want to add your own dialect to some of the photos you see on a daily basis? The people featured in the photos sometimes makes it hard to resist so I decided to take a add my own two cents to a couple of photos from Monday Men Style Caption Me This.

Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight; I wish I may, I wish I might, that Santa will bring me my
Love heart on Christmas night. As much as we love the materialistic stuff received during the holidays, most of us know that love surpasses all of that. So of course I had to find a way to get our materialistic needs to meet that all important emotion. Tuleste Market’s jewelry winter collection throughout the video showcased the perfect union of wishing on some stars to get some love. Tuleste Market’s heart shaped pieces shows others that sleeves are not the only places we can wear our hearts on. Also, you don’t have to wait for a falling star to make a wish; adorn your body with a couple of stars and get your wish-on!
Last week I posted some great outfit options we can wear while singing our own version of Christmas carols, then wear again long after we ring in the New Year. (here, here and here.) Before the end of the week, there will be more styling tips, but today I wanted to share the video my friend, and videographer Sino Chum of Camko Creative created to show what happens when stars meet hearts.
For info on some of the looks check out the following:
Velvet to the touch. The luxurious fabric has resurfaced this year, and I favor it’s use during the holiday season for our party looks. It’s also a good way to get the one you love to be touchy feely all night long.
Shake a beaded tail feather on the dance floor this holiday season.
It may be hard for some to avoid the sequins during the holidays like some try to avoid drinking eggnog while on a diet. Their are healthier alternatives to eggnog, something I’ll share once I find it. You don’t have to avoid wearing sequins since it does no harm to your diet, but wouldn’t be nice to try something different than the expected holiday trend? Beaded blouses, dresses, shoes or even accessories like this neck-piece from Blaque Label can do two jobs for the price of one.
1: It will help you get the well-deserved attention you want to receive, and
2. Your beaded piece will serve jewelry duty for the entire night!
