Hubba Hubba Fashion: The Dipping Effect

It all started with some stools. Browsing Interior Design and DIY websites have become a recent obsession of mine. Since I’m spending more time in my apt these days, my need to do some projects and create a unique work and living environment has grown. Yet somehow I always find something that takes it back to fashion and these stools dipped in paint, immediately took me back to a pair of Alexander Wang heels I saw weeks ago. Less than 24 hours after seeing those stools, I saw another pair of shoes with the dipping effect. Then another, and another like they were telling me something.

The only explanation I could think of was that all these toe-tipper shoes wanted me to own them, wear them and give them some TLC, which I would love to with no complaints. Ohh man someone pinched me and back to the real world I live in sometimes.  I guess one pair will do for now, but which one?  I have to keep certain style necessities in mind and this is where most of you all can join in, if you didn’t before the reality pinch got me. With the Fall now here and winter right behind, which pairs of these shoes will work with the cold season looks we will be wearing?

I did find some of the dipping-effect shoes that should work, so give me a day or two to gather some garments that will compliment the footwear. I’m still going through the emotional process of ch00sing just one for myself which is hard and I need some time. You understand how it can get, right?

Hubba Hubba Fashion: Brim Me Some Hats.

Photos VIA

A little more fabric can go a long way.  Beanie hats during the colder months are good when you need some head protection always in your handbag, but there are some downfalls to that small thing.  Beanie hats on your head can sometimes look like you’re trying to hide some bad hair and pulling off the winter chic look doesn’t always work if you have a big head.  I’m quite sure you don’t want to bring any more attention to it, A fellow big head girl talking here.

Brim your way into fall/winter.  I’ve been rocking the wide brim hats for years.  At the same time I don’t own a lot of them since half of the year I prefer to show off my beautiful Afro or braided hairstyles then there are three months when it’s too hot in NYC to wear brim hats unless I want them to be sweat trappers.  During the winter though, ohh let me count the ways the Brimmie stuff works for me and many others ladies out there.

1. Keeps the snow off the face and out of the eyes.

2. The right brim hat will help us avoid the “bad hair day” look.  Everyone will be be focused on how cool the hat looks instead.

3. Worn with sunglasses, brim hats can also hide a face-ful of sins from the night before.  It’s the fashionista’s version of the baseball cap for guys.

4.  Simple jeans and a t-shirt can be transformed to downtown chic with a Brimmer. (word used inappropriately but sounds so much better than writing brim hat again)

5. Big head hider is something I sometimes live by.   The bigger the brim, the small the head looks.

Hubba Hubba Fashion: Tumblr Love.

Fashion Weeks are our  bonus Christmas seasons.  We get excited for new goodies on the runways and start creating wish lists for The Fashion Santa who wears studded Louboutin oxfords and a Dolce & Gabbana red velvet suit with full beard and slick back hair.

I’m always working on my list which is visible to all, especially the man in the red suit.  My Tumblr page serves as another fashion journal.  Some things I envy, others I lust for and few I will appreciate from a distance. Since it’s fashion week in New York City, I wanted to share photos of some  pieces and looks I would love to wear and imagine working the fashion week circuit.

A corset that cinches from the back, and exaggerates everything below the waist, the braided hairstyle that deserves all the attention, and even the full on feathered coat for my “Fly-Away Art On My Back” look. I would love to wear all of these pieces plus  other statement makers everyday, but during fashion week I know they’ll be appreciated more, so Fashion Santa, work on that please.  Thanks and double kisses.

Hubba Hubba Fashion: Meet Stealing or Dealing.

Loeffler Randall Piera Metal Tip Flats

I was away last week spending time with friends in Florida and getting some of my Christmas shopping out of the way. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to do my weekly lust list and deal finds.  This week I’ve decided to merge Hubba Hubba Friday and Stealing or Dealing together for the Holidays.  This is just a teaser of more to come Monday.  I’ll look for some last minute finds for all of us.  I know that I’m forgetting someone from my list!
