Style Tips: A Short Shift of Color.

short shift color

This is my last week of spring classes at FIT, blow the trumpets! I’m not excited just because the semester is coming to an end, but it’s also the amount of time I’ll have to share my stories, projects, tons of fashion advice! But, right now things are looking brighter, shorter and chicer as we enjoy our spring days. Continue reading “Style Tips: A Short Shift of Color.” »

It’s a Met Gala Kind of Day.

_Moda-Operandi-Punk-Shop

Not too sweet, nor too glamorous.  Rough around the edges with boots and a Mohawk to a gala, now that is my kind of party!

Tonight the Metropolitan Museum of Art will host it’s annual Costume Institute Benefit, better know as the Met Gala, with this year’s theme being Punk: Chaos to Couture. Continue reading “It’s a Met Gala Kind of Day.” »

Head Be Lovely. Jeweled Headbands

jeweled headbands for prom

This accessory is one for those who would rather adorned their heads while everyone is puts their jewels on the neck.  I’ve been suggesting jeweled headbands as an alternative to necklaces for those who may be attending black-tie weddings or prom.

I’ve share some stylish looks for prom (here and here) that can either have some young ladies raising their eyebrows in a questionable way or raising it plotting how they’ll one up on their fashion rivals at the prom with the sequenced romper and sheer skirt!

Think Outside The Box For Prom Part Two

Prom Life

Ruffle your way to the dance floor. If there was a ever an excuse to wear ruffles, prom night would be it.  Wearing dresses you can’t move in and aren’t a bit memorable defeats the purpose of going the extra chic mile for your prom outfit.  In this case a small amount of ruffles can go a long way. Think Outside The Box For Prom Part One.

Recently I gave into a request to help a friend who admits to being so fashionably challenged that her daughter was afraid to have her be the only one there when she started looking for her prom dress.

The first though that went through my head was “how old is my friend to have a teenage daughter?”  Second, “am I that old that I have friends with teenage children?”  Yikes. Well with age there is fashion wisdom and the realization that I could go through the entire prom shopping experience vicariously through my friend’s daughter.

I look at proms as the teen version of weddings. A whole lot of fuss, primping, pampering and dressing up without restrictions on your attire.   You can wear white, or ruffle garments in bright colors, you can even wear rompers on prom night!  The options are endless, but I decided to share prom looks that aren’t very traditional, allowing those young ladies to wear these garments or accessories again and not letting it be a one night thing.

What To Wear? Long sleeves in the summer.

romeostyle slong sleeve in the summer

Some women have to wear long sleeve blouses during the hotter months of the year for several reasons.  It could be their jobs, religious beliefs, skin issues or just a generational thing.  Whatever it may be, you don’t have to feel uncomfortable or not look  chic with the abundance of styles and fabrics to chose from.   Continue reading “What To Wear? Chillin on my Tumblr Corner. You joining?

My obsession with fashion, as I know it, started with glossy pages, and if I had my way I would be sleeping on the magazine collection I once owned. No joke. Before there were e-magazines, online editorial destination or digital versions of our monthly fashion obsessions I had subscriptions to Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, W magazine, Vogue, UK Vogue, UK Elle for almost ten years. A little over 800 hundred magazines, could of made a good base for bed, but having my magazines be 800 hundred reasons for some sleepless nights I just couldn’t do. Deals Galore: New Heights on Low Heels

Not too flat, not too high, just enough heel height to keep us feeling like ladies that can run fast enough to catch the train, a clothing boutique before closing hours or lead a running gang of kids trying to catch-up to the local ice-cream truck before it leaves the block!   Don’t be ashamed, the summer heat will make you do some things to cool the body off, even if that means outrunning some children for ice-cream sandwiches and snow cones.

So my fellow heeled-clad subjects, don’t worry about how tall or short you’ll look, lets slip into low heels that are three inches or lower during the spring and summer months. After all, with the new season we should be trying new styles in clothes, new colors in makeup and new heights in heels.

Small Things from Reiss S/S13

The smaller things tend to make the biggest impressions on me.  This was apparent after reviewing the photos I took during the Reiss S/S 2013 preview.  The shoes and accessories from the collection stole the flashing spotlights in my camera, but what I didn’t snap, Reiss provided with photographs of their womenswear garments that will get our spring-happy bodies giddy for brighter days ahead.   Continue reading “Small Things from Reiss S/S13” »
