Not too sweet, nor too glamorous.  Rough around the edges with boots and a Mohawk to a gala, now that is my kind of party!

Tonight the Metropolitan Museum of Art will host it’s annual Costume Institute Benefit, better know as the Met Gala, with this year’s theme being Punk: Chaos to Couture. Continue reading “It’s a Met Gala Kind of Day.” »

Head Be Lovely. Jeweled Headbands

jeweled headbands for prom

This accessory is one for those who would rather adorned their heads while everyone is puts their jewels on the neck.  I’ve been suggesting jeweled headbands as an alternative to necklaces for those who may be attending black-tie weddings or prom.

I’ve share some stylish looks for prom (here and here) that can either have some young ladies raising their eyebrows in a questionable way or raising it plotting how they’ll one up on their fashion rivals at the prom with the sequenced romper and sheer skirt!

Tipping The Hat Goodbye Instead Hello

Hat tipper gqnyfw34

My love of hats were shared by countless men this past winter who wore an array of styles on the streets all around the world.

Therefore before saying au revoir to the season that calls for us to protect our heads in own stylish ways, I wanted to acknowledge some of the hat wearers that made milliners and mad hatters, like myself, happy spectators.

We have beanie, bobbie, trilby and floppy.  Say them out loud and they sound like the names belonging to members of a music boy band. We have the baseball cap guy playing base minus the ball, and the newsboy making sure you get the hear all all all about it.

Denim Overalls Are Back.

rstyle 1 piece 3 looks overalls

It be for a casual day walking around or an evening out with friends, no longer should we look at overalls as a piece of garment that is only restricted to day time, and play dates  as we did when we were kids.  We’re older and wiser now, right?  Therefore, think beyond pairing your overalls with a simple t-shirt and sneakers and dress it up. “Hide Me” Sweat Said “Hide Me.”

When you’re a slave to fashion, if there is a will you’ll find a way. Just so happens I’ve found several in order to keep my nickname Ms. Cheeky and avoid being called Ms. Sweaty Checks. I’m a sweater, through the pores that is. It’s a sweating problem that I’ve suffered from most of my life, which makes me an expert on this topic.  Through trial and damp error, I’ve figured out which garments to wear during certain seasons of the year, from the fabrics that are sweat friendly to undergarments which prevents those embarrassing moments from happening.  Continue reading ““Hide Me” Sweat Said “Hide Me.”” »

What To Wear? Long sleeves in the summer.

romeostyle slong sleeve in the summer

Some women have to wear long sleeve blouses during the hotter months of the year for several reasons.  It could be their jobs, religious beliefs, skin issues or just a generational thing.  Whatever it may be, you don’t have to feel uncomfortable or not look  chic with the abundance of styles and fabrics to chose from.   Continue reading “What To Wear? Deals Galore: New Heights on Low Heels

Not too flat, not too high, just enough heel height to keep us feeling like ladies that can run fast enough to catch the train, a clothing boutique before closing hours or lead a running gang of kids trying to catch-up to the local ice-cream truck before it leaves the block!   Don’t be ashamed, the summer heat will make you do some things to cool the body off, even if that means outrunning some children for ice-cream sandwiches and snow cones.

So my fellow heeled-clad subjects, don’t worry about how tall or short you’ll look, lets slip into low heels that are three inches or lower during the spring and summer months. After all, with the new season we should be trying new styles in clothes, new colors in makeup and new heights in heels.

Fashion’s Shoulder Slingers

Fashion Shoulder Slingers

The first time I saw this new look during New York Fashion Week almost two years ago, I loved it but, I said to myself that those ladies obviously don’t live among us daily street-walkers in the city.  To wear an open coat, or jacket over your shoulders without securing it while doing everyday activities on the go are impossible.  Let me list some possible scenarios.

Monday Men Style: Canadian Tuxedo

Denim!  It’s the woven fabric that can be worn all year long.  We wear it when we need to dress down an outfit just a bit. We wear it when we’re too lazy to wear anything else or just because it’s welcomed in more places than a MasterCard.  For the never-ending love of denim I have, my post this week is dedicated to the men who wear the fabric ohh so well in it’s different colors, washes and styles; making the male denim-clad species easily accepted worldwide. What A Dream From Bjorg Odyssey

The severed head on the silver platter doesn’t bother me.   Girl cutting her long red hair and naked doesn’t bother me. The model holding an object that looks like a brain doesn’t even phrase me.  What I’m having trouble with is the jewelry feathered in Bjorg’s lookbook didn’t give me a bigger selection pieces to gasp at.  (I am so greedy with food and fashion)
