Not too sweet, nor too glamorous. Rough around the edges with boots and a Mohawk to a gala, now that is my kind of party!
Tonight the Metropolitan Museum of Art will host it’s annual Costume Institute Benefit, better know as the Met Gala, with this year’s theme being Punk: Chaos to Couture. The exhibit, which opens May 9th to the public, “will examine punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today.”
Now I know the routine, they have the Met Gala, we wait to see who will be wearing what while they walk up the red carpet-covered stairs to the museum and then we decide the good, the bad and the daring attendees after. This year, you will be able to own some of those pieces days after the Gala thanks to one of the sponsors, Moda Operandi.
Balmain, Nina Ricci, Wes Gordon and several other designers have worked with Moda Operandi on a special event set to launch on May 7th, which will allow us to purchase garments we saw modeled on the museum stairs May 6th. Black tie weddings here we come!
