Just before the end of the New York Fashion week last month, I visited Parlor Showroom, a hidden gem located in Soho. Taylor Anne Thomas, the owner and curator, was kind enough to let my friend, videographer Sino Chum, and me see the collections of emerging designers in her Parlor!
From Gretchen Jones, a Project Runway winner, to the first collection from Nicolino, Taylor has selection a group of designers that compliments each other beautifully, not only in her showroom, but also in any boutique that carries these brands.
To start things off, I gravitated towards TBA’s (To Be Adorned) red cape which incorporated two expected trends for next fall/winter. After that, it was an array of well-combined textiles, the lavish use of hunter green and leather features from several of the designers. There were pleated unfinished edge details on some skirts and dresses, unique prints and patterns with entertaining stories of their creations, and my visit concluded with a fabulous, dramatic coat that will have Cruella De Vil drinking the haterade.
