Wouldn’t it be refreshing and inspiring to see an innovative fashion week presentation that would have all walks of life in awe? It may not involve models walking down a runway or staring in a street-style saga but something that those who may not care much for fashion shows, will want to watch again.
Since I’ve been dipping my fingers back into my illustrations, (e-store coming soon) those same extremities have been searching for sources of inspiration. When you seek, ye shall find!
Fashion week will be upon us in less than a month, so I’m hoping that some designers out there will be encouraged to by Illustrator Tara Dougans‘ short film, “Beware of A Man’s Shadow And Of A Bee Sting.” She illustrated designs from some of her favorite designers, using garments from the F/W12 season. “Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver‘s striped three-piece suit for Lanvin, Riccardo Tisci‘s star-emblazoned sweater for Givenchy, Walter Van Beirendonck‘s trompe l’oeil prints, and Kim Jones‘s travel blanket-inspired bomber jackets for Louis Vuitton,” were some of the pieces Dougans shares with us in her trademark hand-drawn style. But like any fashion show where the model has his or her moment at the end of the runway, every one of Dougans’ illustrations, slide in and slide out with some bee-stings to bid them Salut.
