Ohh right now, I wish my travel adventures would take me to the Netherlands. December 2011, the Groninger Museum, in the Netherlands, opened an Azzedine Alaïa exhibition that I’m hoping will travel across the open seas to New York City.
Entitled, “Alaïa. Azzedine Alaïa in the 21st century,” the exhibition displays the most fantastic Alaïa fashion creations of the last ten years from the designer. Each room in the exhibition focuses on a different material that Azzedine Alaïa has constantly used over the past decade. Examples would be velvet, fur, wool, leather, cotton, animal skins, chiffon and knitwear.
My gosh, I know New York City usually gets most of the great fashion exhibits but why can we get one of the most important fashion designers ever to live, here? When I think of sensuality, tight dresses, comfort, seductive, glamour and, of course, sex appeal I think of the double A’s. Check out some of the pieces that are being displayed, below.
