Whoever attended fashion week in Copenhagen last month wanted a ticket to the “IT” fashion show of the week, Henrik Vibskov’s. His presentation was the last one and it was scheduled to start at 10pm that night. Well in true fashion nature, it was delayed and as the must-see show of the week, everybody wanted to get in so start time was pushed back even further. All those factors we’re working in my favor and since I was at the show without my travel companion, I had to ride my bicycle across town so I could party into the wee hours of the morning with my friend and my hosts in Copenhagen. Keep in mind I was in a foreign country and the later it got, the colder it felt riding along the highways trying to figure out where the heck I was headed in the dark. Shout-out the Google Maps again!! Back to the fashionshow I never saw… yup never saw.
Forty minutes after the show was scheduled to start, most of the attendees, including myself, were still outside the park waiting to get in. As I stood there, standing with new friends, feeling Mr. Chill creep through my clothes, my New Yorker mentality started to kick in. I sucked my gapped teeth then said,”I’m out, over it.” To those close around me, they said encouraging words hoping I would of stayed, while there were others who overheard my departing comments, and wondered to themselves “is she crazy, this is SHOW to see.” Little did those people know, my New York behind will get a better view of the collection than most of them ever would because of Capsule! The trade-show, which started today and ends Monday Sept 19th, features some of the best, creative international, high-end contemporary brands and independent designers. I will get to touch the clothes, try some pieces on, maybe even place an order! HAHA don’t hate on me people. At the same time, I’m a believer in the saying “everything happens for a reason.” There were several reasons on that late August night why I didn’t stay to see Henrik Vibskov’s S/S 12 show. The most important reason was me not getting arrested. A Coulda Woulda, Shoulda situation.
I COULDA left the show earlier and not bike across town by myself in the dark or I SHOULDA of stayed anyway to see the man of Copenhagen fashion week close it down but, then I WOULDA been arrested after flying to the stage and taking a pair of those special eye-pieces off one of his models.
